The Flyfisher’s Classic Library has published over 100 titles since 1991 and has become acknowledged as the world’s premier publisher of out of print fly fishing titles. We have customers from all over the world - many have been with us since the beginning and are enjoying building a collection of books of the highest quality in terms of both content and binding.
As publishers dedicated to the production of classic fly fishing titles, our aim is to offer books that are not mere facsimiles but genuinely new editions, usually based on the original first edition but including any relevant additions in order to provide the most comprehensive text, together with the finest illustrations. Many of our books feature specially commissioned introductions from leading authorities and previously unpublished manuscript pages, letters and photographs. From time to time we include in our list original titles such as Dame Juliana, The Angling Treatyse and Its Mysteries by Frederick Buller and Hugh Falkus which is an important addition to angling history.
Standard Editions - All our books are beautifully produced to the very highest specifications, quarter or fully bound in leather, with marbled or coloured endpapers, head and tail bands, silk marker ribbons and slipcases. The top edge of each book is usually gilded. All the books are page size 234mm high and 134mm wide unless otherwise stated. The print run of each edition is shown on the imprint page and our newer titles are individually numbered.
Special Limited Editions – In addition to the specification above these editions have extra special features such as raised bands, gilding on all three edges or individually hand marbled endpapers. These books are strictly limited and are individually numbered.
De luxe Limited Editions with Flies - Our de luxe limited editions are bound in the finest leathers with hand-marbled endpapers, raised bands and gold tooling. De luxe editions have appropriate flies tied by world-class fly-dressers set within the binding. Initials can be embossed, at no extra cost, on the presentation box of de luxe editions ordered in advance of publication. These books are strictly limited and are individually numbered.
Portfolios – Some of the scarcest and most expensive books within the angling literature contain superb colour plates which are most suitable for reference, framing or gifts. Each Portfolio contains the complete set of colour plates presented within a gold blocked box with silk lifter ribbon. Each Portfolio is limited to 500 un-numbered copies.
